Peleкhata Olena

PhD Olena Pelekhata, Associate Professor at the Department of Slavic Languages and director of the Center for Polonics of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. In 1986 obtained Master’s Degree “ Russian language and literature” Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. In 1994 defended PhD thesis “Semantic structure of denominative and deverbative meaningful places names in Russian language” at the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University. Since 1994 and till present obtained Associate Professor at the Department of Slavic Languages ​​of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

In 2002 obtained Master’s Degree “Polish Language and Literature. Ukrainian language and literature” at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Since 2004 and till present works as a director of the Center for Polonics (Polish Studies) at the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, organizing annual All-Ukrainian Contests on Polish Spelling under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine (the 15th competition was held in 2019).

While working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Slavic Languages ​​at the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University  had a scientific internship at Warsaw University (1998), Jagiellonian University (2005), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (2010) and Institute of Slavic Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences (2018). In 2016 participated in the project “Polish language in Bukovina Carpathian. Documentation of the endangered cultural heritage”within the programm of the Minister of Science and Higher Education named “Humanistics Development Program” 2015-2018 (headed by Professor Helena Krasowska, Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, 2015-2018). In 2017 participated in the didactic program Erasmus+ at the Jacob of Paradies University in Gorzow Wielkopolski. In 2019 participated in training Program MoPED. In 2019 participated in competition THE CALL FOR PROPOSALS OF THE JOINT UKRAINE-POLAND R&D PROJECTS FOR THE PERIOD OF 2020-2021 with the project «Language biographies of Poles from the Stanislaviv region and persons resettled residing in the Lubuskie region. Documentation of vanishing language heritage».

Since 01 October works as a visiting professor at the Department of Humanities at the Jacob of Paradies University in Gorzow Wielkopolski.
